As of March 2012, El Salvador has seen a 40% drop in crime due to what the Salvadoran government called a gang truce; however, extortions affecting small businesses are not taken into account. However, El Salvador had 66 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2012, more than triple the rate in Mexico that year. And really, the anti-cliche-strong-female is becoming a cliche. I’d rather read about an emotionally complex woman with smarts than a woman that can beat up anyone that lays a hand on her, as cool as the second one is, just because I’m tired of it. Elsa is amazing because she’s both.
